Guidelines & Limitations
-
Quantity
- You may order a minimum of 50 printed envelopes, and additional envelopes in increments of 500.
-
Ink Choices
- We print using Pantone® Licensed Printing Inks. Please specify Pantone® Uncoated Colors when placing your order. 1
- You may choose any uncoated Pantone color at no charge. No coated colors.
- On black envelopes, we only print Pantone 877 (Silver Metallic) or Pantone 873 (Gold Metallic)
- 4 color printing prices are for CMYK. Add $60.00 for 4 Pantone Colors
- We do not print white ink on any envelopes.
- Inks are somewhat transparent and paper color affects the way the Pantone color will look.
-
Bleeds
- 2 or 3 sided bleeds are permitted, but there may be an extra cost for heavy coverage.
- Full bleeds (4 sided bleeds) are NOT possible.
- We cannot print an entire envelope in a color. We cannot bleed on the flap of an envelope. Flaps are printed on a closed envelope.
- No bleeds if printing 2 sides on a 4 color envelope, including remittance envelopes.
- No bleeds on any envelopes printed 4 colors.
-
2 Sided Printing
We offer the option of printing both sides of most of our envelopes. There is an additional charge to print both sides, and this option can be selected on the product page when ordering.
-
Heavy Coverage or Large Solids
If your design includes heavy ink coverage and/or large solids, there may be an additional charge. Our prepress department will notify you if there is an additional charge. Heavy coverage or large solids may produce a light layer of ink that rubs off the front onto the back of the next envelope as it comes out of the press. This is called offset and is very common on envelopes. Some offset can be avoided by lightening large solids using a tint or screen of the color so that less ink is applied. A smudge free UV drying process may be used for an additional charge.

- Adobe .PDF - please embed all fonts, images etc. We would rather receive native files instead of PDF.more detailed info
• PDF files require the least amount of support files or native files such as fonts and placed images, however, they also allow the least flexibility in terms of editing capabilities.
• PDF files should be provided as high resolution files with all elements color separated and assigned proper pantone uncoated colors.
• Files should be accurate regarding size, position, color, etc. Only minor modifications can be made. - Photoshop® CS3 or earlier: .EPS, .PSD, .TIFF. (created in 300dpi or more at 100%)more detailed info
• All files should be created or scanned at a minimum 300 dpi resolution, 100% size. Changing a low-resolution file (72 dpi) to be 300 dpi is not recommended and does not provide this same high resolution quality.
• Layers should be left intact whenever possible.
• Any used fonts should be included.
• 1 color files should be converted to grayscale with desired color indicated in order comments or as monotone image with pantone uncoated color assigned.
• 2 color files can be submitted in the following methods:
- multi-channel document with both pantone uncoated colors assigned.
- DCS 2 file with both pantone uncoated colors assigned.
• 1 and 2 color files submitted in CMYK or RGB format can sometimes be converted or color separated for an additional art fee that will be determined depending on the complexity of the file. Colors can be chosen with a reasonable degree of accuracy but it is strongly recommended that colors be chosen from pantone uncoated swatches and indicated in comments when order is being placed.
• Jpeg and GIF files are generally low resolution and produce poor results when printed and are therefore not a recommended or accepted file format. - Illustrator® CS3 or earlier, .EPS or .AI, convert fonts to outlines. more detailed info
• Files can be either eps or AI format and should be vector format.
• All file elements should be assigned a pantone uncoated color.

• Word is not an ideal design program and not our program of choice but can be accepted with certain limitations
